Margaret Halbig
Pianist

Pianist Margaret Halbig is in high demand as a collaborative pianist. She has played for numerous graduate and undergraduate recitals, auditions, orchestra concerts, opera scenes and productions, as well as advanced ballet classes. Since 2008, Margaret has been a pianist/organist at First Congregational Church of Santa Barbara, and also an accompanist for Opera Santa Barbara and San Marcos High School.

Margaret moved to California in 2007 to study with Robert Koenig at the University of California Santa Barbara, where she is currently finishing her Doctorate degree in Collaborative Piano. Prior studies in Collaborative Piano and Chamber Music include several years at the University of Kansas Lawrence where she was a graduate teaching assistant for the piano department, teaching class piano as well as private piano.

Margaret holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Evansville in Indiana where she studied piano as well as percussion, organ, and harpsichord, and a Master of Music degree in Piano performance from University of Missouri Kansas City Conservatory, where she was a student of Robert Weirich.

While at the Conservatory, she accompanied the Graduate Chamber Choir, the Conservatory Chorale, Canticum Novum, and the Symphonic Choir, and served as accompanist at St. Matthew Apostle Catholic Church as well as the Kansas City Ballet school.

Margaret participated in masterclasses with such distinguished artists as Marilyn Horne, Warren Jones, Anne Epperson, members of the Juilliard String Quartet, to name only a few. In 2009, she was a fellow in Collaborative Piano at the Music Academy of the West.
